EP-289VWM Ready-to-Run Distributor for Ford 289-302 Small Block V8 (Electronic Ignition)

The EP-289VWM is a Ready-to-Run electronic distributor for the iconic Ford small block V8 family -- the 289, 302, and 5.0-liter engines that powered generations of Ford Mustangs, Broncos, F-series trucks, and performance cars. The Ford small block is one of the most modified and enthusiast-supported engine families in American automotive history, and the transition from points or Duraspark electronic ignition to a compact Ready-to-Run distributor is one of the most popular and straightforward upgrades available.

Unlike the larger HEI conversion which replaces the entire ignition system with a self-contained unit, the EP-289VWM Ready-to-Run distributor retains the external coil while replacing the points with a magnetic pickup and electronic module. This makes it ideal for Mustang and Bronco builders who prefer a traditional underhood appearance with the external coil in place, or for applications where the larger HEI cap diameter would create clearance issues with valve covers, air cleaners, or other components.

Two-wire installation and compatibility with any standard external 12-volt coil make the EP-289VWM easy to integrate into existing Ford ignition wiring. The adjustable mechanical advance allows timing curve tailoring from mild street use through performance modifications with aftermarket camshafts and increased compression.
