The EP-10-6A is a complete HEI distributor for the Jeep CJ and early Wrangler YJ powered by the beloved AMC 258 inline-six (4.2L) and related AMC six-cylinder engines. The AMC 258 is one of the most durable and torquey inline-six engines ever installed in an off-road vehicle — its long stroke and massive low-end torque made the CJ5 and CJ7 formidable trail machines, and the engine's simplicity has allowed these vehicles to accumulate extraordinary mileage in demanding service.

Converting the AMC 258 from its original points or early electronic ignition to HEI is a popular upgrade in the Jeep CJ community for the same reasons it's popular in all classic vehicle applications: stronger spark, simplified wiring, elimination of external components, and freedom from the periodic adjustment that contact-point ignition requires. The EP-10-6A integrates the 65,000-volt coil into the cap for a clean, self-contained ignition system suited to the demanding off-road environments that CJ and Wrangler YJ owners routinely encounter.
