The EP-10C is the definitive HEI distributor replacement for Chevrolet and GM small block and big block V8 engines. The HEI system was introduced by General Motors in 1974 and became standard equipment across the entire GM V8 lineup through the early 1990s, powering millions of Camaros, Corvettes, C10 pickups, Chevelles, El Caminos, and full-size trucks. The HEI design integrates the ignition coil directly into the large-diameter distributor cap, eliminating external coil wiring and the separate ignition module box. The EP-10C features a 65,000-volt high-output coil — substantially stronger than the 35,000-40,000 volt output of a stock HEI coil — which produces reliable spark through wider plug gaps and higher compression ratios. Premium brass cap terminals resist arc erosion significantly better than aluminum terminals, maintaining consistent terminal-to-rotor gap geometry over the full service life of the cap. The CNC-machined aluminum housing provides precise shaft alignment for true spark timing accuracy at high RPM.

Each EP-10C is individually tested for coil output voltage, module function, and vacuum advance response before shipment. The adjustable vacuum advance canister allows tuning the part-throttle timing advance for different carburetor and cam combinations, making the EP-10C suitable for both stock street engines and performance-built combinations with aftermarket camshafts and modified compression ratios.
