E QD Type Bushings

QD bushings are precision machined and split on one side. It fits QD pulleys or sprockets. They are assembled using cap screws to ensure a secure press fit on the shaft. However, if necessary, the sprocket or pulley can be removed using the pull-up bolt. Pull-up bolts are used to unscrew the bushing and allow access to the inside diameter of the assembly.
These bushings are interchangeable with machine elements that have cylindrical hub bores and can be inserted from any axial side. Unlike conventional QD bushings, no reverse installation provisions are required. Furthermore, the wedge ring may be long and thin, extending through the entire axial distance of the shallow annular space between the cylindrical shaft 11 and the belt hub portion 13.
The QD-type bushing has a locking mechanism that includes a set of circumferentially spaced threaded openings in the loading flange 110. The threaded opening receives a release screw that threadedly engages the flat surface 128 of the thrust flange 112 to separate the inner and outer wedge rings and release them from each other. They are used to release radial torque holding forces.

Standard Mounting

1. Make sure the cone on the bushing and the inside of the driven product is clean and free of oil or any anti-seize lubricant.
2. Slide QD bushing on a shaft, flange end first, then assemble key.
3. Place the QD bushing on the shaft. Use only a standard Allen key to tighten the set screw on the key (hand-tight). Don't push too hard.
4. Slide the large end of the sprocket or other part taper hole into place over the cone, aligning the drilled bolt holes on the sprocket or other part with the taper holes in the bushing flange. Then assemble the pull-up bolt and lock washer.
5. Tighten the pull-up bolts alternately and evenly to the tightening levels shown in the torque table below. Do not use extensions on wrench handles. There should now be a gap between the face of the sprocket or other part hub and the flange of the QD bushing to ensure a satisfactory tapered grip and press fit. NOTE: This gap must not be closed.
