In case of any damage to the cement lining, it can be repaired by following the instructions in ANSI/AWWA C104/A21.4 "Cement-Mortar Lining for Ductile-Iron Pipe and Fittings for Water". The damaged lining needs to be removed, and a stiff mortar made of one part cement to two parts sand should be applied over the repair area. The repaired area should be kept moist by applying a seal coat.
