What is Skid Steer Auger

An auger is a device used to drill into the earth. It is attached to the skid steer machine to pierce straight down. It comprises long heavy-duty steel with a blade at the end that spirals down in a helix shape. Its functioning mechanism is the same as an electric drill machine when the auger is forced deep into the ground, the attached rotating blades grab the material, wrapping it around the steel shaft, and extract the soil out, leaving a clean-cut hole ready for use.

Choose your correct Auger

Augers are categorized into three distinct categories: Standard Duty, Heavy Duty, and Heavy Duty High flow. They are designed to achieve different workloads depending on the type of soil. There are a few things that should be kept in mind while selecting an auger to get the best use out of it.

Hydraulic system: The rotation speed of the auger highly dependents on the hydraulic flow rate power. So before buying, always ensure your skid steer's flow rate, as well as the type of piercing conditions and soil type.

Dept: The dig dept relies on the model of the skid steer. Most of the auger drives are apt to dig up to 72 inches however, there are extension attachments available to increase the performance and dept.
